Rishina loves designing her outfits, might open own label
Rishina Kandhari is passionate about acting but equally enjoys designing her own clothes. She has been doing it for the last few years, especially for special occasions. The actor’s inspiration is her mother and found her passion for design when her mother was discarding some old sarees.
“I have been designing my clothes for years now. It so happened that my mom was throwing away her old sarees. Her sarees were so pretty that I immediately jumped on them saying – ‘don’t throw them away we’ll make my dresses out of these’. My mom herself has a great sense of fashion designing. As a child I have seen her stitching lovely dresses for me on various occasions. In the beginning she helped me with it and later I took it over full swing,” says Rishina, who is known for her television shows such as Uttaran, Tashan-e-Ishq and Diya Aur Baati Hum.
The actor designed her first outfit, a long flowy dress in 2012. Then she designed her heavy outfits for the first time during a friend’s wedding in 2015. “I designed all the outfits that I wore during Karan and Ankita Patel’s wedding for all the functions right from the roka, mehendi, sangeet and wedding to the reception. My friends and family loved my creations,” adds Rishina.
The actor shares she now prefers wearing her own designs and says that her friends have suggested that she should start her own label. “I design my own clothes and love to wear them as they are very peppy, smart, casual and above all, very comfortable. An ill-fitted outfit looks forced when you are not comfortable and confident in it. There’s no pressure of looking good all the time. But there is no harm in getting decked up at times. However, one should avoid going over-the-top,” she adds.
As for plans of her own fashion label, she says, “As far as a fashion label is concerned, my friends and family have been telling me but I don’t know when I will be able to do that. Also, I usually design for myself and haven’t designed for anyone else yet. But, yes my friends do borrow my designs sometimes for special events.”
