Why Rasika finds it easy to turn down small roles

Actor Rasika Dugal, who was last seen in the film Manto opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui, says it’s difficult for her to say no to a film. “It’s very tough. I am always clouded with a lot of doubt, because I have no such clarity. At one level, I am genuinely tempted to do a variety of things. When I am approached for something, I just look at it as another experience, and not whether it’s good or bad for me at that point of time,” she says.

However, what’s been easy to refuse is roles with less screen time and less importance. Rasika shares that she has turned down a lot of small parts in commercial films recently.

“I have not been offered a meaty role in commercial films so far, and that was easy for me (to turn down) in the sense that nothing attracted me towards them. That part wasn’t involved in the story in any significant way either,” says Rasika, who is currently seen in the web series Mirzapur along with actors Ali Fazal and Divyendu Sharma.

But it isn’t as if she will never do small roles. “Even though I did a small part in Tu Hai Mera Sunday (2017), it required me to learn something new — sign language — which had something to do with the story. Even when I took that decision, I was doubtful, but no regrets,” Rasika signs off.
