ANURAG IS A FRIEND NOW, SAYS VICKY
The Uri actor talks about the relationship curve with his friend and mentor Anurag Kashyap
Mention the name Anurag Kashyap and actor Vicky Kaushal’s face lights up with joy for he looks up to Anurag as his friend and mentor. According to Vicky, each time he has collaborated with the filmmaker, it has been a “wonderful experience”. Their last film Manmarziyaan (2018) was received well.
“I just love working with [Anurag Kashyap] because I want to continue my process of learning with him. Since the day I saw him coming to my dad (stunt director, Sham Kaushal) to discuss work, to the time I started calling him ‘sir’ and now when we have worked quite a few times and itching to do more...,” says Vicky, adding that the relationship has only become stronger.
“We are more like friends now. After Manmarziyaan shoot got over, Anurag said to me — ‘Tu bachha tha, par ab tu bada ho gaya, kya kaam kiya hai tune is film mein’… I was like ‘Yeh aap kya bol rahe ho. Please tell me if I have done justice to the role or not’ (laughs),” adds the actor, whose latest film, Uri is getting mixed response from fans and critics.
Talking about the latest release, Vicky shares that shooting the film was an “overwhelming” experience. “Training with the armed forces was the toughest and the most exhausting [part]. There were shin and back injuries, tennis elbow… I even shot with a sling on one hand. Every time I faced the camera, I would remove the sling and shoot. All of that made me feel better. As an actor, we get to live so many lives. And I felt like a hero in real life, though I don’t want to sound narcissist,” signs off the actor.
