Cashing on the popularity of American reality TV personality Kylie nner’s ‘egg’ post on stagram, a restaurant in oida has introduced a Kylie nner Egg Salad.
And this craze isn’t just an dian fad. Recently, Deepika adukone posted about a dosa named after her in a food joint in Texas, USA. Her husband, a tor Ranveer Singh, too, has food item named after him, the restaurant that has e Kylie Salad. “The ylie Jenner Egg salad as introduced on anuary 15 after an egg picture on Instagram surpassed [the popularity of] Kylie’s picture. We also have a very spicy Soya Seekh that is named after Ranveer Singh, because of how tadakta bhadakta he is, and the dish is a hot-seller,” says, Tushar Agarwal, owner, Mystery of Spice (Noida),
At Aaoji Khhaoji, Pune, take your pick of thalis named after Sunny Deol, Deepika Padukone, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Modiji. Ask the owner, Rajvirr Singhaaniya, if these dishes sell more than others, and he says, “Yes”.
This craze goes beyond dishes and extends to the decor, as a tribute to their work. For example, photos of actor Salman Khan’s hairdo from various movies grace the walls at the Salman Khanthemed restaurant Bhaijaanz in Mumbai. Here, there’s also a whole dessert category called As Sweet As Prem. Zafar Sayed, the owner, says, “People are interested and curious, and wonder why a dish is named a certain way. And they order just to see how it tastes like.”
What’s more? Well, how about a recipe that’s passed on by an actor for a hotseller? Yes, the popular Noor Mohammadi Hotel, Mumbai, boasts Chicken Sanju Baba as its best-selling item made using the recipe given to them by actor Sanjay Dutt himself. Owner Raashid Hakim says, “A lot of people want to try it as the dish is something different and made with whole garam masala. It’s his personal recipe and that makes a lot of difference.”
