Kareena slays the ramp in black
Lakmé brand ambassador, Kareena Kapoor Khan, dons a black strapless gown by the designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil, bringing alive Lakmé’s beauty theme of Matte Reinvent at the Lakmé Fashion Week grand finale in Mumbai.
Each season of the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale promises to be bigger and better than the last. And this year too didn’t disappoint. Held at Sophia College, Breach Candy, Mumbai, the finale saw Lakmé brand ambassador Kareena Kapoor Khan on the runway of Lakmé Fashion Week as she turned showstopper for Shantanu & Nikhil’s collection, Recruit SS’19.
Shantanu & Nikhil’s designs, which represented the sartorial Indian story with modernity, were a perfect fit to bring alive Lakmé’s beauty theme of Matte Reinvent. Talking about her experience Kareena said, “Walking at the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale has always been very special to me and this season I am thrilled that Lakmé is going a step further to create the ultimate finale. Their beauty theme of ‘Matte Reinvent’ is also very special and I am sure it will strike a chord with every lipstick lover.” The fashionista also spoke about her favourite shade from the collection saying, “My love for lipstick is no longer a secret and these new Lakmé Matte Ultimates have become my instant favorites. I’ve always been partial to red and it’s so exciting to see that my favourite shade from the collection ‘Red Extreme’ is also the one that has translated perfectly across Shantanu & Nikhil’s collection. Walking the runway for them was a lot of fun as I love their unique sense of style.”
Designers Shantanu Mehra and Nikhil Mehra also expressed that they could not have asked for more. “There really couldn’t be a better showstopper to work with. Kareena at every finale has been breathtaking and is a fantastic showstopper. With her, and the glorious backdrop that Sophia’s presented, we really couldn’t have asked for a better combination for our first finale ever. It was truly ‘Ultimate’,” said the duo.
Adding to it, Ashwath Swaminathan, head of innovations, Lakmé said, “We cannot imagine a finale without Kareena as the showstopper. And for the Lakmé Absolute Ultimate Finale this season, we are delighted that Kareena showcased Shantanu & Nikhil’s interpretation of our beauty theme ‘Matte Reinvent’ as the ultimate showshow stopper.”
