It’s important for actors to stay relevant, but it’s equally crucial for them to stay fresh in public’s memory. That’s the reason actors avoid taking career breaks. But, actor Mrunal Jain took a sabbatical after Nagarjuna- Ek Yoddha in 2017 and has since then not signed a new project.

“No actor wants to take a long break; everyone wants to work continuously. But rather than doing the same thing again and again, I feel it’s better to take a break, if required. After Nagarjuna, the offers coming my way weren’t anything that I had not done before. If I get bored doing similar roles, I can imagine what the audience feels while watching them. Rather than losing sleep on what I’m going to do next, my energy is now driven towards getting the right kind of work. TV recognises talent and is supportive towards those who work hard,” says Mrunal, who has been a part of shows such as Bandini, Hitler Didi and Uttaran.

But there was a time when the 34-year-old did worry about his work. And it was his family, who motivated him to stay strong. “I started having thoughts like, how am I going to get back and what if I am forgotten? But, not anymore. My family has been my strength and I’ve decided to push those thoughts behind and move ahead,” he says.

During this time, away from work, Mrunal utilised to improve himself. “I groomed myself. I’ve worked on my body and have become leaner. I was busy with the tennis league that Kunal (Thakkur, actor) and we’ve started. I feel more secure. While my mother motivated me to be an actor, my father has taught me how to sustain through the ups and downs. And, good things take time,” adds Mrunal.
