When the stunts she had to do brought tears to Tinaa’s eyes

Often, working on a supernatural drama that requires one to do stunts can be a real struggle. And actor Tinaa Dattaa experienced it first-hand in her last show Dayaan, where she had to perform some dangerous stunts, which left her bruised.

“I have a slight displacement problem in my back and it gets triggered when I wear a harness and hang in the air. So, there was a scene that required me to jump from one cliff to another wearing the harness. The surface of the cliff was so uneven that it left me bruised,” Tinaa says.

Recalling one of the most difficult scenes which brought tears to her eyes, Tinaa shares, “We had to shoot in Film City instead of the real location due to the rains in Mumbai. It was a scene in which I was climbing up a rock and since there wasn’t any support, I had to grab the cliff and walk up. It wasn’t that the harness was going to pull you — you literally had to pull yourself. While I was hanging in the air, swinging, there was a little imbalance that took place and I landed up slamming at the cliff. I was like, ‘I wouldn’t be able to do this. This is not my thing.’ I almost had tears in my eyes.”

And even though there were stunt directors, who ensure every safety measure, the actor feels that the hazards don’t end with them. “There is the added pressure to make the scene look natural, effortless, and actors do get injured and bruises. But that is a part of our job and we have to be careful.”

And it becomes all the more difficult when an actor has to do the stunts wearing traditional Indian attire. “When you are wearing lehenga or anarkali, you have to take care of the dupatta all the time. Also, the wig that we wear, we have to be very careful that it doesn’t mess up. That used to become a tad bit difficult,” Tinaa shares.
