‘The biggest gift is the gift of education’
This Daan Utsav, as promised We Are Listening to your stories. Today, we share Srishti Sharma’s tale of teaching underprivileged kids
‘It’s not an uncommon sight to see children begging on traffic signals, railway stations, metro stations and other places. The sight always leaves me uncomfortable. I would always wonder if I could do something to make their lives better? Shouldn’t they be in schools instead? So, about two years back, I saw a group of kids and felt extremely bad as a citizen of this country and decided to take action for the same. Maine suna tha ki shiksha ka daan sabse bada hota hai. I started a project wherein I decided that we would get underprivileged kids admitted in government schools. And, up till now, me and my friends have successfully admitted over 700 kids in school. But, I soon realised that just getting them admitted in schools isn’t enough to secure their future. So, to tackle this issue, I started a concept paathshala where we give free education to the poor kids jo school mein nahin samajh paate. We teach them various modules and techniques to make them capable enough to take on life, and don’t drop out from school, taaki jo bache shikshit nahin reh paate woh shikshit rahe.People
spend so much for happiness. However, the satisfaction and happiness I found amid these kids, I didn’t get anywhere in the world. Now, I sleep well.’
