Digital screen promises a bigger dhamaka this season
India is a gold mine of stories, and if you’re wondering what to watch on this long weekend, Hotstar Specials will help you to make the right choice.
This festive season, Hotstar Specials brings you two extraordinary stories — Chhappad Phaad Ke and Kanpuriye — about ordinary people that steer away from the set format of theatricals.
Starring actor Vinay Pathak, Chhappad Phaad Ke is a dark comedy commenting on the Indian value system. The story revolves around the Gupchup family, a typical middle-class home, who suddenly discover a bag with `5 crore. At this point the story takes a hilarious twist. Vinay says, “It’s said that money has no moral opinion. Our film attempts to demystify this thought in a light-hearted and quirky manner. The movie will leave you thinking that whether it is the money that has the real power or is it your will power to do the right thing.”
While Chhappad Phaad Ke gets the worst out of the Gupchup family, life has some hilarious twists planned for Jaitun Mishra, Vijay
Dinanath Chauhan and Jugnu Lampat of Kanpuriye. Actors Aparshakti Khurana, Divyenndu and Harsh Mayar essay the roles of three small town boys who are chasing big-city dreams.
Aparshakti says, “After watching movies that have brought out the real essence of small towns like Allahabad and Bareilly, Kanpur finally gets a story of its own! It took me back to my own struggles — reliving the uncertain future and trying to find my way out. The movie is about that bittersweet moment in our lives, collectively, and define what we have become.”
Actor Divyenndu adds, “I think there’s a certain charm about living in a city that encourages people from smaller towns to dream big. Most of us have been part of situations where we were chasing our dreams, but circumstances have other plans! Kanpuriye defines the struggle of these three protagonists that makes the movie relatable.”
Chhappad Phaad Ke and Kanpuriye are now streaming on Hotstar VIP.
