Bollywood is tough, but not impossible for Tushar Pandey
Actor Tushar Pandey aka Mummy of Chhichhore feels that things are changing for the better for him after the success of Pink (2016) and Chhichhore. But, the actor points out that breaking into any medium, be it television, films or web, isn’t an easy task. While Bollywood is slowly opening up to him, he says there is still a long way to go.
“If you ask me if I feel I’ve arrived, I’d say I’m pretty confused now. Bollywood is difficult, but not impossible. It takes time to feel settled here and find your own ground. Post Chhichhore, I’m getting offers but I’m still not getting them in bulk. But the situation is better in the way the makers approach me now… I’m focusing only on the positives,” he says.
Tushar is conscious about the moves he makes. “The challenge never stops. Every step needs to be thought about.It’s a responsibility, which won’t change soon. But this hard work is exciting for an artist. The more this happens, the more it brings out the best in me… I feel the urge to do better and be more creative,” he adds.
Compared to actors who belong to a film family Tushar feel that for outsiders, like him, it’s important to prove their mettle with every film. “(It happens) till you reach that phase when you have a standing in the industry. Only your good effort will bring in more work and that’s how people like us can survive,” he says.
At the moment, Tushar is busy shooting for his next in Uttar Pradesh. It’s a web series and the actor is waiting for the makers to make an announcement. “It’s a super exciting project but I can’t talk about it. All I can say is that my character is totally different from my role in Chhichhore — the reason it got me so excited,” he adds.
If you ask me if I feel I’ve arrived (in Bollywood), I’d say I’m confused now. It takes time to get settled here.
