With ramp walks in style and mesmerising performances by talented students from across north India, International Women Polytechnic (IWP) celebrated 20 years of women empowerment by hosting its annual gala Meraki 2019 — the biggest fashion show on campus with HT City’s Rock on Campus.
Applauding the effort of IWP to change the mindset of the society towards women, eminent personalities with MP Manoj Tiwari as the chief guest were in attendance. Sanjay Juneja, director, London Pride and Shubham
Virmani, director, Mr Barber also graced the occasion.
“Meraki provides unprecedented access to women students of IWP to showcase their skills on a mega platform thereby gaining confidence to carve their own success stories. There was display of talent from all departments with focus on intelligent space planning by the interior designing department. The cultural show, and the fashion show were the highlights of the event,” said Vishal Nijhawan, managing director, International Women Polytechnic.
The audience, which had over
5,000 members, loved the cultural show, which was an amalgamation of dances, skits and mono acts. The fashion show saw models sport a range of ethnic, and Indo-western outfits of khadi with Kashmiri and Punjabi embroideries. Winning the crowd’s hearts, acid attack survivors from Chhanv Foundation walked the ramp.
Emcees Ekta Tiwari and Rohit Datta kept the crowd entertained with their witty one-liners. The event ended with presentation of awards to students.
