OF ART AS ANTIQUITY
A London-based collector surrendered two Indian art works to the US Department of Homeland Security, according to a report by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The collector had bought a limestone-carved relief dated around first century AD from Andhra Pradesh and a 17th century bronze figure of Krishna from Tamil Nadu from a USbased dealer. The return of these artefacts coincided with the Independence Day celebrations at India House, London, in August.
