SCREEN TIME NO BAR, SAYS MRUNAL

The actor considers every chance a golden opportunity in its own way, and she believes in making the most of it

She’s been on a roll since last year, with two of her films, Super 30 and Batla House giving a boost to her career, and also achieving commercial success. And going forward, Mrunal Thakur has her kitty full with Toofan alongside Farhan Akhtar and Jersey with Shahid Kapoor.

The question naturally arises that is her focus solely on working with big stars as of now? “Everyone asks me if it’s a conscious decision. But every opportunity is a golden opportunity. I’m quite active on social media, and I see this comment quite frequently on these sites, ‘Your screen space was so less’. I realise that, but I’ve got to learn so many things. You get to improve,” says Mrunal. She adds that whenever she gets to play a role that’s meatier, it’s the experience that counts.

“And if I give my 100% anyway, I will then give 200% of my hard work. I have the experience of working with the most talented and the best. I began my Bollywood career with actors Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham, and that experience can’t be expressed in words,” she adds.

Apart from two films, the 27-year-old also got a chance to work with Karan Johar in the anthology Ghost Stories. It’s rare for a newcomer to get to work with the biggest of actors and directors when they start out. “Karan called me after watching Love Sonia (2018), and said he wanted to cast me in my most glamorous avatar yet in his film! I didn’t even realise this was happening, and made the most out of it. I asked him thousands of questions about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995), what must have happened on those sets… At that time, they didn’t have fake rain, so they had to wait for it to rain in reality! I was so happy to work with him,” she says.

While the rumour about her working with Shahid in Jersey turned out to true, the actor reveals there are many more such rumours, but she is not complaining. Mrunal jokes, “There is also news I am making my Telugu debut! I just want you to pray for me, I want to work with all the ‘S’ in the industry, be it Shah Rukh Khan or Shahid Kapoor!”
