People want good performances, doesn’t matter where: Sharvari
Even before her maiden acting project, web series The Forgotten Army — Azaadi Ke Liye, made it to its final destination, came the news that she will make her Bollywood debut with Bunty Aur Babli 2. Newcomer Sharvari, who features in the Kabir Khan-directed web series, is excited about being able to showcase her versatility so early on in her career and says the medium of work does not matter today.
“This (the series) is my debut, and of course, in films, Bunty Aur Babli 2 is going to be my debut. But I feel that the lines between films and OTT are really bleak now. People just want to see good and honest performances, and it doesn’t matter where it is released. If people like it, that’s the ultimate goal,” she says.
In the series, about the journey of the brave men and women who formed a part of the Azad Hind Fauj and fought against the British for India’s independence, Sharvari plays a civilian recruited in the army. For the actor, it was a
“different feeling” to be able to tell such a story that she feels, “changes you as a person”.
Given that the show was to have some high-octane action scene, bootcamps were organised for the actors. And doing the stunts turned out to be an unforgettable experience for Sharvari, especially because of action director Sham Kaushal, with whom she had been on a set earlier. Sharvari says, “I was an assistant director on Bajirao Mastani (2015), which also had Sham (Kaushal) sir as action director. I was on Unit 2, which was the action unit for Ranveer Singh. So we used to go to sir and say, ‘Please let us try the harness, please sir’. He never let us because he was like, ‘Safety first, I can’t let you do all this. You are not trained to climb up a harness’.”
She was excited about collaborating with him and his team for the series — this time as an actor. “On the set, when we were going to do action, I was like ‘Harness pe chadaana hai, chadao, giraana hai, kahaan se giraana hai batao,” she laughs.
