Mannara back in action after being bed-ridden for two months

- Rishabh Suri

Being out of action for two months in a competitive field like showbiz can be suicidal, for there are a hundred others who are waiting to enter this industry somehow. Naturally, for actor Mannara Chopra, being bed-ridden for two months after a bad accident was harrowing.

Spilling the beans on what happened, she says, “I was in Delhi for work, and that is when the road accident happened. I was crossing the road and a car hit me. Though it was not overspeeding, the driver couldn’t hit the brakes on time. I fell on my back and had a major ligament tear and bruises all over my back. It was a twomonth break, and the doctor had advised me complete bed rest. I could barely walk.”

What made things a bit easier was that her family stood by her side all through the recovery phase. She says, “Luckily for me, Delhi is my hometown, and hence, I had my family all the time.”

“Two months is not a short span of time, especially when you are confined indoors. I did start getting snappy, but I would do up my house. I changed the interiors, bought new furniture, of course, instructing all the way. I did not let it affect me mentally. I could have, if I wanted to, but I used it in a positive way. My family got the shock of their lives, but they didn’t let me worry,” adds the 28-year- old, who made her Bollywood debut with the 2014 film Zid. She has also been part of Telugu films such as Thikka (2016) and Rogue (2017).

Though she missed out on work opportunities, Mannara, who is the cousin of actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas, says she wishes to get started again at the earliest. “I got into dancing as a form of fitness. I am back in Mumbai now and I’m busy with meetings, trying to catch up. Hopefully, 2020 will see me come back with a bang!” she signs off.
