The current phase where actors and stories are crossing over into different platforms and countries seems extremely exciting to actor Huma Qureshi, who last worked in the BritishIndian historical drama Viceroy’s House (2017) and will be next seen in Hollywood filmmaker, Zack Snyder’s, Army of The Dead. Acknowledging the same, Huma says that many Indian actors have shown their talent in international projects, and that she’s confident that many more will follow suit, with showbiz becoming increasingly inclusive.

“I see a lot more people going for the crossover because there are so many rich stories waiting to be told and be made,” says Huma, who has experienced the interest in Indian cinema and culture first-hand when she made multiple appearances at foreign film festivals.

“From my first film Gangs Of Wasseypur (2012), which marked the first time that I went to the Cannes Film Festival, or even when I went to Berlin (Berlin International Film Festival) for Viceroy’s House, I’ve always seen a side where there is a lot of focus on inclusivity and diversity in a very real sense, rather than a very token way of talking about it. And the world over, there’s such a major dialogue going on about inclusivity,” the actor adds.

However, the need of the hour, in Huma’s opinion, is to understand what the demands of a certain situation are. “I feel films have to reflect the people in that society. I’m also against the token adding of a person from an ethnicity. I think it should be done in a more holistic way,” the actor shares. And she admits that she was once advised to party more to make her way through more projects, something that many actors have pointed out every now and then. However, ask her about it, and she says, “Mujhe toh kabhi nahin mili. Clearly, their social skills are way better than mine!”
