Akangsha on getting web offers high on sexual content
There is a very fine line between bold and titillating and when it comes to web series in India, the two sometimes mingle, which often makes actors sceptical about taking up projects. And actor Akangsha Rawat who is known for her role in the TV show RadhaKrishn, says that even though she gets plenty of web show offers, she hasn’t taken up any, owing to the high sexual content in them.
“My liking for web shows, series and films has been the reason behind my interest in being a part of them. Most of these offers are high on sexual content. And I am not comfortable doing sex scenes,” says the actor of TV show Solhah Singaarr fame.
However, she is all praises for the web, saying the stories are mostly in real space, something that she has been meaning to do for long. “Real life stories have always been a big draw for me. After doing TV for quite some time now, I want to be a part of real stories that aren’t dramatised much. I just hope that something interesting comes my way soon,” says Akangsha, who has done two back-to-back TV shows in the religious/ mythology genre.
And the actor isn’t complaining. She also doesn’t think much about getting stereotyped. “I’ve stopped planning anything in advance in both my personal and professional lives. Earlier I would, but then most of the times it failed. So, I don’t think much about getting typecast and all, the effort is towards making the best out of whatever I’ve at hand… Also if an opportunity comes then I would love to do a futuristic show (something on the lines of sci-fi), though I know it’s rare on TV but that’s my wish,” she adds.
Akangsha also feels that unlike before, it’s not that difficult to break the mould now. She names actors such as Mohit Raina, Sourabh Raaj Jain and Sonarika Bhadoria, who have managed to do it. “I know it’s a little difficult, but not impossible. Some of them have done it and how. Now with social media, one can actually show a different side to his or her personality,” she adds.
