We should be more gutsy to make quality content: Ridhi

- Sangeeta Yadav

Actor Ridhi Dogra has done some great work on TV and feels proud to be a part of the industry. While she is grateful for the fame she has earned through the medium, what’s more important for her is “the confidence I’ve developed as an actor”. Dogra adds, “This has only made me more determined to do good work and be more productive.”

Having played the lead in shows such as Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak?, Savitri, and Woh Apna Sa, Dogra feels that what’s missing on TV today is quality content. “We should be more gutsy to make quality content. That’s one change I want to see in TV. And to bring that change, audience can play a big role,” Dogra shares.

The 35-year-old, who will next be seen in a web series about a same-sex couple, has become very selective about her choice of work on TV, primarily due to the lack of quality work coming her way. And she feels that till the audience don’t stop watching regressive content, this won’t change.

“What works on television

isn’t in the hands of TV channels; it’s in the hands of the audiences. They really need to dismiss and disregard the content that goes wrong or is regressive in nature, because as long as you like such shows, channels and makers will keep making such content,” Dogra explains.

She further says, “They aren’t going to take the risk with something you don’t care about. I really feel that more than the channels, the audience can help bring a change and have a better taste... since there’s so much content available these days.”
