Akshay comes to Ranveer’s rescue
In a pleasant display of brotherhood, Akshay Kumar jumped in to reprimand a scribe for posing an inappropriate question to his Sooryavanshi co-star Ranveer Singh.
At the film’s trailer launch on Monday, a journalist took cues from one of its dialogues — “Yeh kaam sirf ek hi kam**na kar sakta hai” — that marks Ranveer’s entry in the trailer, and asked the 34-yearold, “Ranveer ji, kya aap bhi maante hain ki aapke fraternity mein sabse kam**ne aap hain? Trailer mein aisa hai toh...”
While filmmakers Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar were baffled, and the audience burst into guffaws, Singh handled it with his usual wit, saying, “Direct insult.”
However, Kumar was visibly rattled by the insensitive query. He came to Singh’s rescue immediately and said, “Ye bahut galat hai jo aapne aisa sawaal kiya... Woh film ka dialogue hai naa ki fraternity ka dialogue. I would request you to not ask such questions.”
Kumar’s response was applauded, and Singh reacted with his signature melodrama, saying, “Mera Akki... hamesha mujhe bachaane aayega .... Mera Akki.”
At the event, Kumar also took a friendly jibe at Singh for arriving 40 minutes late. In a video that went viral, Singh is seen touching the feet of the cast and crew members and apologising for the delay.
Singh and Kumar share a great camaraderie, which was earlier seen in a chat show, hosted by Karan Johar, wherein Singh had recalled that he was only eight, when he went to a film set, where Kumar was shooting for a song with Raveena Tandon. He recounted how Tandon had asked him to move out of the sets, and Kumar had won his heart by complimenting on his unusual haircut.
