Time is never a hindrance if passion is at seat. SHARAD KOHLI SENIOR ECONOMIST
Senior economist, startup and tax guru, Sharad Kohli, recently reached the landmark of making 1200 appearances on over 60 television news channels and digital platforms.
In a conversation, he reveals his favourite format of shows, the preparation required before appearing in front of the camera, what he likes about being a panelist on TV and more.
The milestone of 1200 appearances is quite a big number to keep record of.
Yes, my office has kept precise record of each one from the beginning till date.
You are an entrepreneur engaged in diverse businesses. How do you manage to spare time for television?
Time is never a hindrance if passion is at seat.
Which format of the shows has been your favourite ?
I enjoy public debates, as they are full of energy although I look forward to talk shows more as they are rich on content and less on noise.
After making numerous appearances, do you still prepare before going on air?
I treat each appearance as my first, which makes me go well researched as viewers trust and believe what’s spoken by experts.
What is it to face the camera on diverse and technical issues?
Making camera as my ‘best friend’ keeps me away from any inhibitions or jitters.
What do you think is the most important aspect of being a TV panelist?
Presenting complicated and sometimes sensitive issues, in easy expressions is the key. I think people connect better if one can pack energy and quality content to increase the attention span or preventing the viewers from reaching out to the TV remote too often!
We have observed your shows being quite gesture packed?
I believe it’s not just the tongue that does the talking facial expressions and hand movements add value to what is being said.
