Rashmi Menon and Sohini Sen’s The Working Life
What’s it like to go to work in the middle of a pandemic? What happens to the office seating? What about the open office culture; will that be a thing of the past? What about canteens; can we still use them? You will get all your questions answered in The Working Life, a podcast where Rashmi Menon and Sohini Sen, feature writers at Mint, discuss various aspects of work life in the post Covid-19 world. This podcast is brought to you by HT Smartcast.
Silence Please!
Interactions are probably the most affected aspect of workplaces, and it doesn’t come as a surprise. “No hugs, no high fives and no chilling together at the canteen... Some offices have also requested employees to completely cut-off interaction,” says Sen with a heavy heart. “We always have had stressful schedules, but one thing that kept us going were the little breaks we had in between work. Being stuck at home, we miss out on all this!” adds Rashmi, remembering instances from the past.
Home Office and Webinar Fatigue
Nobody thought that work from home (WFH) will extend for so long. And as it’s important to stay comfortable while working from home, a lot of companies are sending office furniture and computer accessories to employees’ homes. The WFH exercise might’ve disrupted work schedules, but it also encouraged some to explore new skills and opportunities. While it could make your days more productive, eyestrain or ocular fatigue from staring at a screen continuously can adversely affect your physical and mental health.
