Ihave been thinking how to crack this,” says Punit J Pathak on plans to make his first Valentine’s Day special, after his wedding to Nidhi Moony Singh on December 11, last year. “I will light up my terrace, dance to some good music, have a candle-lit dinner and play a movie that she likes. During the lockdown we were chilling, but since the unlock, both of us have been working. We are torn apart as far as work is concerned. Saath mein baithenge and will spend quality time,” says the choreographer, director and actor, who’s been busy with his shows.

Pathak isn’t a fan of Valentine’s Day and says, “I don’t have a problem with people celebrating it, but I also feel there is too much pressure on people. If I take Nidhi out for a cruise, the next time, I will have to do better and better. There is no end to these special days. I think, they became special because you spend time with that someone special and not because you do something special. Ab mujhe lagta hai ke main aur Nidhi thode bade hogaye hain, aur thode buddhe bhi (laughs), to get that excited about Valentine’s Day. The good part is Nidhi doesn’t expect a lot, so she loves what I do. She knows me well and for sometime now, I’ve come out of my comfort zone and been open about my feelings for her. So whatever I do, honestly, will be enough for her.”

He reveals he’s never done anything elaborate even as a teenager, on ‘special’ days. “I don’t get excited even for my birthdays! There is too much pressure to execute what you plan and you don’t end up enjoying the day,” he says.

As the couple has not been on a honeymoon yet, Pathak says he is waiting to travel to Europe. “We went to Goa right after our wedding to celebrate my parents’ 35th wedding anniversary but everyone thought it was our honeymoon. We want to go to Europe for 30 days or so. Let’s see kab hota hai,” he concludes.

I’ll light my terrace, dance to good music, have a candle-lit dinner, play a movie. PUNIT J PATHAK, Choreographer-actor
