‘14 months since I got a welcome hug at door’
“At our dining table we have a no-phone rule. But over the last one year, I’ve been taking four to five calls in the middle of dinner. Though my kids are young, they are aware of what I do... It has been 14 months since I got a welcome hug at the door when I’m back from the clinic. They know I’ve to sanitise myself and take a bath first,” says Dr Sarika Verma, a Gurugram-based ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgeon.
“As an ENT specialist, we are seeing Covid patients all day. I wear a surgical gown, mask, face shield and gloves. All this to keep my kids safe. I know my kids might have some plans for Mother’s Day, but the fact that they are mature, independent and allow me to do my job without stress, brings me immense joy,” adds Verma.
