‘Need to keep frontline workers in our thoughts’
There are days when I can’t stop crying, go into a shell and try to escape from the reality. SONNALLI SEYGALL,
The nation is reeling under the impact of the second Covid-19 wave, and Sonnalli Seygall is doing her bit to help out. The actor is closely working with a Delhi-based foundation to provide beds to those who have contracted the virus.
“I’ve been raising awareness, providing information related to Covid-19 and donating essentials to the needy through them. I’m involved with their centre in Mumbai now and helping them set up beds here,” she shares.
Constant exposure to the news of distressful instances, Seygall admits, is taking a toll on her mental health. “There are days when I believe we can get through it. And then, there are days when I can’t stop crying, go into a shell and try to escape from the reality,” she says, wishing she knew of a way to deal with the crisis. “I believe in prayers. If we have a positive outlook, this situation can be handled, and the burden on frontline workers will become a thousand times lighter. We need to keep them in our thoughts,” she asserts.
For the Jai Mummy Di (2020) actor, the only mantra to pull through is to take responsibility, rather than placing blame. “When bars, restaurants opened last year, nobody maintained social distance. Why were they allowed to run with 100% capacity? Authorities should have been stricter. We all eased up in our heads, too. But, now is the time to heal the country,” she adds.
