‘TO SEEK BLESSINGS’
Actor and new dad Aparshakti Khurana, who was recently in the Capital, talks about his Dilli darshan and visit to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib
Look who came to Delhi to get some blessings — actor Aparshakti Khurana! He ’grammed a picture of him, visiting Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, and left his fans wondering if there was anything special that he came to pray for.
The 33-year-old and his wife, Aakriti Khurana, became parents to a girl last month. Talking about their bundle of joy, who has been named Arzoie, the Dangal (2016) and Stree (2018) actor, says, “I don’t always go to temples to pray for something. Sometimes I go just to express gratitude for the blessings I’ve received. This time, I went to Sri Bangla Sahib Gurdwara for two reasons — to seek blessings for my work and express gratitude to God for blessing us with Arzoie!”
But, this new dad’s Dilli darshan didn’t end just there. “I went to a popular restaurant in Connaught Place, and my team and I binged on some delicious food there,” he reveals, adding how much he loves the food joints of the Capital. “There are two cafes — one in Shahpur Jat and one around Mandi House — that I really love. We all love Dilli ke mashhoor Chhole Bhature, which is a cheat meal I enjoy. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it packed for Aakriti. But we both make sure to have it here, whenever we can,” he says. Originally from Chandigarh, he spent a few years in Delhi before moving to Mumbai to make a mark in Bollywood. But, he still loves coming back to the city. “Everyone you meet here has a heart so big,” he says, and adds, “I have spent a considerable number of years in Delhi. Most of it was for work (as an RJ). I used to love working and would thank God everyday for blessing me with such an exciting job. All that has shaped me into a better person today, and it has made me grow both personally and professionally. Even now, I come to Delhi pretty often, and most of it is for work. But, whenever possible, I love to catch up with friends and excolleagues for a good jam session or go on drives in search of good food!”
