Add these in your diet to beat the heat

-

CHAMOMILE

This herb can cool the body, ease insomnia, calm anxiety and soothe the digestive system. Great for the skin and scalp as well, it soothes inflammation, rashes, insect bites and even cuts and scrapes.

MINT

One of the easiest herbs to find fresh in the market during summer, it is ideal to consume mint in this season. Mint aids digestion without increasing body temperature. It also helps with nausea, migraines, depression and exhaustion.

MULETHI

Also known as licorice, mulethi is commonly used to alleviate dry cough and sore throat symptoms. During hot weather, it can also help you stay cool. Mulethi enzymes also produce macrophages and lymphocytes, which defend the body from microorganisms, allergens and toxins, while increasing immunity.

AMLA

This is one of the best plants for cooling down in summer. Its high vitamin C content eliminates heat from the digestive tract, gently cleansing and nourishing the body.

ROSE

Rose petals have a relaxing impact on the body and can be used to cool it down, treat menstrual cramps, and relieve diarrhoea due to its astringent properties. Adding cucumber or rose water, two of the most effective cooling agents, in your drinking water can keep the body nourished.

SEASONAL DIET

Curd, buttermilk, sweet corn, pears, watermelon, muskmelon, papaya, plum, berries, apricots, cherries, mangoes and oranges are all good sources to keep dehydration at bay.

AND A PRO TIP!

Those who are into sports and intense workouts should prefer electrolyteinfused drinks rather than plain water.
