Mimoh Chakraborty had a grand debut with Jimmy (2008), but his career couldn’t gather much steam. With a variety of projects lined up for release this year, the actor, son of actors Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali, says things are now about to change.

“My short film, Ab Mujhe Udna Hai, just released and has won 50 global awards. I have a thriller, Rosh, and Jogira Sara Ra Ra, a comedy, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I’m quite excited about these,” he tells us.

Talking about how the landscape of cinema has changed, Chakraborty says the whole fascination with playing the lead in a project has faded, and he just wants to play meaningful, memorable characters.

“We have those two-three big heroes. They are superstars, we can’t compete with them. But, other actors are experimenting. The hero has become a common man and is no longer a superhero. That is the best thing about cinema now, we are no more obsessed with playing the hero. You can challenge yourself with many unique roles,” he opines.

The actor is glad that he can reinvent his career now and experiment with the craft. “As an actor, everyone has to keep experimenting in order to grow. I won’t say this is the 2.0 version [of my career], I will just say people will see me in a different light. Cinema has changed today, and that change is reflecting in the offers coming my way,” he signs off.
