REUNITING TO CREATE MAGIC ON SCREEN
Movie buffs are in for a treat as these Hollywood actor-director pairings are set to collaborate yet again
Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black
Actor Robert Downey Jr and writer-director Shane Black are all set to develop a series of movie and TV projects, adapted from Donald E Westlake’s Parker crime fiction series, Variety has confirmed. The first project emerging from the deal will be a feature film, titled Play Dirty. The duo first worked together on the 2005 neo-noir Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which was as Black’s directorial debut and saw Downey star alongside Val Kilmer and Michelle Monaghan.
Robert Eggers and Anya Taylor-Joy
The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy and director Robert Eggers are teaming up for The Northman, which is a Viking revenge-drama, also starring Willem Dafoe, Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgard. She will also team up with him for the remake of Nosferatu, the 1922 silent horror film that loosely adapted Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The duo first worked together in the 2015 period supernatural horror film The Witch, which marked Taylor-Joy’s film debut and Eggers’ feature directorial debut.
Gary Oldman and Christopher Nolan
Actor Gary Oldman is set to work with filmmaker Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer. The duo had earlier collaborated on the trilogy of Batman movies. Cillian Murphy will star as Oppenheimer in the project that also features actors Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr and Florence Pugh, among others.
Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis
Hollywood star Tom Hanks is reuniting with Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis on a new film titled Here, according to Deadline. The 1994 iconic film’s writer Eric Roth will helm the script, adapting it from the 2014 graphic novel of the same name by Richard McGuire. It will be the first time the Forrest Gump dream team has worked together in 30 years. The project is still in development, and will be in auction for streaming soon.
Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy
Deadpool 3 has got its director, and it is none other than the lead star, Ryan Reynolds’ frequent collaborator, Shawn Levy. The duo has worked in Free Guy (2021) and The Adam Project. Reynolds took to Twitter to confirm the news, and teased that the third film in his and Levy’s “trilogy” will be “a tad more stabby”.*
