To An expert’s guide hair revitalise curly
We all want frizz-free, bouncy curls that are full of life. But, this doesn’t always need a hair wash. Yes, you read that right! While you will need to shampoo eventually, overshampooing is something that can damage our tresses.
Yuba Khan, hair expert, suggests quick ways to refresh curls at home without a hair wash.
USE A LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
Leave-in conditioners can keep old curls in place and help in styling as well. If your hair has fewer tangles and is just a little limp, use a spray bottle with a moderate amount of water and sprinkle it evenly on your hair. You could add a pea size amount of your favourite leave-in conditioner, curl cream or gel. This mixture of water and conditioner can refresh dry and frizzy curls. Khan says spraying water is especially essential if you use a lot of styling products. Also, if your curls have some cream left from the previous day, the products you used can be reactivated just by
spraying water.
USE A CURL REACTIVATING SPRAY
This does not leave the
curls crunchy and needs just a few sprays to breathe life into your hair. Use a curl texturising spray, crunch and plop your hair to refresh the curls.
FINGER COIL THEM
“Apply your favourite styler or spray water to flat curls, twirl each strand around a finger until it appears twisted. Then, scrunch your curls and let them air dry,” suggests Khan. If a softer hold is more your style, refresh using a styling cream. Apply the cream to each curl that needs to be smoothened and scrunched.
USE A HAIR GEL
Hair gel can provide a major hold for old curls that need style longevity. Spritz the area with water or a leave-in conditioner first, then apply a small amount of styling gel to each curl. Scrunch curls well, let it air dry or use a diffuser on the cool setting for faster results.
SPRINKLE DRY SHAMPOO
This helps to keep your hair going for more than a day or two or between washes.
DIFFUSE YOUR HAIR
Diffuse with a basic water spray or product application. You can apply two to three drops of hydrating oil onto the lengths to ensure you don’t get frizzy, dry curls.
