How is cucumber beneficial for our skin health?
Cucumber has many nutrients that help the skin. It not only contains antioxidants, which protect the skin’s youthful properties, but also contains vitamin C, caffeic acid and folic acid. While the former is known to brighten the skin, caffeic and folic acids strengthen collagen. Drinking cucumber juice also improves skin health. Loaded with vitamins and minerals, it helps heal your skin from within. The antioxidant-rich juice reduces inflammation, hydrates your skin and clears it up.
The effect of cucumber is gentle, making it a traditional remedy for dark circles and skin brightening. It helps reduce puffiness around the eyes, lighten dark patches and freckles. Grated cucumber or cucumber juice may be applied daily on the skin around the eyes and washed off with plain water after 15 minutes.
For a cooling face pack, blend cucumber juice (or pulp), an egg white and 2tsp powdered milk. Apply on the face and neck and rinse after half an hour.
To tone the skin, mix cucumber juice and rose water in equal parts. Apply on the face and wash with plain water after 20 minutes.
For skin lightening, mix cucumber pulp with ripe papaya pulp and yogurt. Apply on the face and wash it off after half an hour.
