Tanuj on his short making it to Cannes: It feels like my career has come full circle
Actor Tanuj Virwani’s is ecstatic that his short film Parchhaiyaan will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival. “It’s interesting because I started my acting career with short films when I was in college. After so many years, it feels like my career has come full circle. I believe doing a short film is the purest form of storytelling, as you aren’t bound by the shackles of box office and numbers,” he says.
As for the screening at Cannes, the Inside Edge actor says he is being “cautiously optimistic” about the response. “You’re optimistic because your heart tells you that it’s going to be a home run and people will love it. Cautious because you can’t afford to get carried away,” says the 35-year-old.
Many Indian actors and projects get noticed only after achieving something internationally. “That’s true. I still feel there’s a lot more that we need to do, as creators, to promote short films in our country,” he opines.
