Actor Adil Hussain’s new film Footprints On Water will be embarking on its journey with a trailer launch at the Cannes Film Festival, but he will not be attending the gala. “I was asked to visit the festival this year for the trailer launch. But I was travelling continuously for three months and didn’t see my son [for so long]. In fact, I haven’t been with him for over six months. Hence, I let go of this chance [and decided to stay at home],” Hussain tells us.

The British-Indian feature, helmed by Nathalia Syam, narrates the journey of a father, an illegal immigrant in the UK, who’s searching for his missing daughter while evading the police. While Hussain won’t be attending the festival, he is glad that the makers will be present at the event. “The festival offers a world stage to everyone. It is always buzzing with activities. I am sure that the producers will do their best to create buzz about our film. It will give them a chance to meet the festival and sales agents from across the world,” says the actor.

Talking about the film, the 58-yearold says, “The movie is extremely gripping. It will churn your heart and make you smile, too. It is an intense look at people’s dreams and what happens when they shatter. I am so happy that the film is getting such a good start [by trailer launch] at the Cannes.”
