I do realise that I need to talk about my work. Everybody has a big team to back them, including] a PR machinery. NARGIS FAKHRI, Actor

Nargis Fakhri doesn’t like to go all out talking about her work. But, given the changing trends in the film industry, the actor, who forayed into Bollywood with Rockstar (2011), now realises that it’s important to go with the flow to stay relevant. She says, “I do realise that I need to talk about my work. Everybody has a big team to back them, [including] a PR machinery. When people pushed me [to talk about myself], I realised that I was stupid [to not promote myself or my work until now].”

In India, working in a Hollywood film is a big deal for actors and they never miss an opportunity to talk about it. But when Fakhri did an American movie, Spy, in 2015, she didn’t talk about it much. “I have always been pretty humble and shy. I never felt the need to shout about my work from rooftops,” she says and adds, “It was a huge film with A-list actors (it starred Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law). I was even nominated for the MTV Movie Awards.”

The 42-year-old now regrets not working towards her image promotion back then. “I probably should have been more proactive to talk about it (her work in Hollywood). Maybe I just didn’t realise [the importance of] that,” she ends.
