One in four adults suffer from hypertension in India
High blood pressure is now a full-fledged health crisis, with at least one in four adults suffering from this condition in India, said health experts on the occasion of World Hypertension Day (May 17). Hypertension is also considered the world’s biggest killer, and is said to be responsible for at least 8.5 million deaths. Worldwide, at least 1.4 billion people live with this chronic condition.
Experts also pointed out that in India, untreated and uncontrolled blood pressure has become a leading cause for premature death and disability.
