Skin care mistakes you must avoid in summer
Looking after your skin can turn a tad tricky in summer, especially if you have an oily skin. Summer is a time of excess heat, sweating, dust and grime. All these result in increased oil secretion of skin and scalp, causing rashes and breakouts.
When dealing with summer, the thumb rule is to pare down your skin care routine. But apart from that, there are so many mistakes that we unknowingly make that take our summer skin care goals for a toss. Here’s what you avoid to keep your skin healthy and problem-free:
WEARING THE WRONG CLOTHES
If you wearing heavy materials, then sweat tends to accumulate on the skin, resulting in heat rash. So stick to organic, light and breathable fabrics.
NOT SHOWERING AFTER SWEATING OR EXERCISING
This will also cause more sweat accumulation, and can increase the risk of fungal infections! Take a shower, then change clothes to get rid of sweat immediately.
EATING DAIRY
Dairy is well-known to cause acne. Cut out dairy during this time to protect yourself.
OILING YOUR HAIR
In summer, your scalp produces more oil and sweat, resulting in dandruff. Thus, it’s best to avoid oiling and use a salicylic acid or selenium sulphide based shampoo regularly.
USING A 10 STEP SKIN CARE ROUTINE
During this time, your skin needs to breathe. The more skin care products you use, the more obstructed it will be and the more zits you will get. Cut down your skincare routine to three to four steps maximum! A salicylic acidbased cleanser, a water-based moisturiser and gel-based sunscreen will keep you sorted.
WEARING TOO MUCH MAKEUP
Again — more layers, more zits! Keep it light — a concealer or a BB cream is more than enough during summer days.
KEEPING THE SAME FACE MASK ON AND NOT CHANGING IT
Maskne is a thing! So please use fresh masks every four hours to prevent acne from obstruction and bacteria, and accumulation of sweat from the face mask.
