Unapologetically unfiltered
From clicking makeupfree selfies to speaking their minds, actors vow to be fierce and fearless in whatever they do, this International Women’s Day
SAIYAMI KHER
I feel the perfect woman is someone who embraces what she is blessed with. I’m someone who likes to go against the norm. (Filmmaker) Mani Ratnam’s heroines look stunning as he doesn’t believe in overdone makeup. With social media, people are living a filtered life. I have grown up admiring (actors) Waheeda Rehman and Shabana Azmi who are known to speak their minds.

Internationally, there’s a lot of conversation around going unfiltered, with the way female celebs step out of their homes, carry themselves and in their online posts. In India, I see the conversation going in that direction, paparazzi culture has also become... or rather, people have made it very important. Yes, in terms of beauty standards, people are unfiltered and it’s being appreciated. But at the same time, I like to draw a line for the part of my life that’s completely shut out from the outside world.
HUMA QURESHI
Thank God actors feel they can be unfiltered now! Women should be allowed to be whoever they want — be it wearing fashionable clothes with a full face of makeup or going makeup-free. There’s no right or wrong way, it’s a choice. We need to create an environment where women don’t have to feel apologetic about their choices.
NEHA DHUPIA
Female actors now are using their voices because they realise they have one, which is a sign of confidence and being comfortable. Women can define their worth in more ways than just being a perfect version of themselves or what is expected of them, and that is liberating. To put it in a way where I may get trolled, it’s my choice!
