ctor Anjali Anand, who made her big-screen debut with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (RARKPK) last year, is ready for an exciting lineup ahead. “I’m playing a small part in an upcoming film titled Bun Tikki. It’s a beautiful project, and I am getting to work with actors Shabana Azmi, Abhay Deol and Zeenat Aman,” she shares, adding, “It is unbelievable to work with these legendary actors so early on.”
The actor, who will also star in Hitesh Batia’s web series Dabba Cartel, shares how her mother Purnima Anand used to be a body double for Aman during the ’70s and ’80s. “When they told me that I’ll get to work with Zeenat ji (in Bun Tikki), I was on cloud nine. She (Aman) knew my parents. After our meeting, she couldn’t believe that the little girl (Anand) was now so big. I didn’t have a memory of meeting her as a child. But I knew, she was a part of our life,” the 31-year-old shares.
Anand, whose late father, actor Dinesh Anand was known for his films Aflatoon (1997) and Loafer (1996), adds, “I feel lucky that I am getting to work with the same actors that my parents have worked with. Even recently, I shot for a web show with actor Raj Babbar, who was my dad’s close friend.”
Apart from Aman, Anand also talks about sharing a bond with Azmi. After Bun Tikki and Dabba Cartel, Anand is set to collaborate with her RARKPK costar for the third time for an unannounced project.“I have been working with her continuously since 2021. She has become a good friend of mine — someone to talk to and someone to take advice from,” Anand tells us.
The actor has landed many new projects after debuting in Johar’s film. Ask if it would have been different had she debuted with a smaller project, and she shares, “Something as noncommercial as 12th Fail (2023) did so well, and Medha [Shankr], who is my friend, got so much work after that. So, it’s not about small or big films, you just have to be good at what you do.”
