#LitTalk: Matters of mindful resilience
When a doctor writes a prescription with the patient’s medical history in mind, it suggests the right dosage of remedy or cure to recover. In this measurement, was the relevance of mindfulness about life and motivation to stay strong amid storms, advised during the many conversations at a recent launch of the book, Rx for Resilience by Dr Saroj Dubey.
In the 13 chapters of his debut book, the author, a gastroenterologist by profession, encapsulates his journey of embracing the darkest moments of his life and offers a road map on how to live a life full of happiness, through one’s self-discovery. Recalling the time when one of his patients died, and he started soul-searching, Dr Dubey said, “The deeper the sorrow carves into your being, the more joy it can contain. So, after this whole episode of awakening or transformation, I’m able to see wonder and awe in small moments, which I wasn’t able to notice earlier.”
But how did he learn the art of “staying resilient” when life threw lemons at him? “When I was going through intense emotions of fear and despair, I realised I’ll have to be open to whatever is happening... One of the reasons that motivated me to write this book was that I had to face this situation. But I wanted to tell readers that we don’t have to face any kind of calamity; just be aware of things. Once we become more present, we become stable,” Dubey opined.
Hearing all these thoughts intently, and sharing candid stories about the author, were reputed names from the medical fraternity attending the do, including Dr Naresh Agarwal, Dr Manav Wadhawan, Dr Kunal Das, Dr Praveen Sharma, and Dr Pankaj Tyagi.
