Sonnalli A Sajnani: Ashesh and I are big fans of Holi

Actor Sonnalli A Sajnani and her husband, hotelier Ashesh L Sajnani, are selfconfessed “Holi fans”! “In fact, we prefer Holi over Diwali! It is our favourite festival,” she claims.

However, due to work commitments, the couple won’t be able to celebrate together this year. “It’s our first Holi as a married couple, but unfortunately, we will be apart because I am travelling. He will be in Mumbai, and I am going to be shooting in Auckland (New Zealand),” says the 34year-old, adding, “I tried to change my dates so I could be back by Holi, but that couldn’t happen. We will celebrate with each other in spirit, and I will make sure we do a little sagan once I’m back; after all, Holi is our thing.”

The Anamika (2022) actor substantiates the couple’s love for the festival of colours by telling us how far they can go to celebrate the occasion, literally. “When we started dating, one of our first holidays together as a couple was a Holi trip to Pushkar, just to celebrate it. It was so beautiful and special,” recalls Sonnalli.

Telling us how the festival is typically celebrated at her sasural, Sonnalli shares, “They (parents-in-laws) have a set ritual. Ashesh and I go to his parents’ house in the morning. We put colours on our parents first; they put on us only then the two of us put gulaal on each other.” She adds that the first part of the day is spent visiting the extended family, after which the “wilder side of Holi” unfolds for the couple. “We play a wild Holi later. We make sure to have thandai, and jalebi-rabri is my absolute Holi fave,” adds the

actor.
