Sydney Sweeney dispells rumours of film with Johnny Depp
ESYDNEY SWEENEY TOOK TOXON SATURDAY TO QUASH RUMOURS OF BEING CAST OPPOSITE JOHNNY DEPP IN AN UPCOMING SUPERNATURAL THRILLER FILM
uphoria star Sydney Sweeney recently took to social media to dismiss reports that she will soon appear alongside Pirates of the Carribean (2003) actor Johnny Depp in an upcoming supernatural thriller titled Day Drinker.
Speculation began after film critic Jeff Sneider wrote in his newsletter that Depp (60) and Sweeney (26) were set to costar in filmmaker Marc Webb’s latest project. The film is reportedly based on a story by Fast X (2023) writer Zach Dean. Set in Spain, Portugal and France, the film centres on a grieving bartender who meets an “enigmatic stranger” and explores themes of “love, friendship and revenge.”
Sweeney took to X on Saturday to brush off these claims, writing, “woke up to (star emoticon) rumours anyways go see @ImmaculateMovie in theaters this weekend! (sic)”
A representative for Sweeney confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the actor is “not involved” in Day Drinker.
At the moment, the actor is basking in the release of her latest horror film Immaculate, which premiered last month and is directed by Michael Mohan. Sweeney also codirected the film, where she plays a young American nun who is forced to relocate to Italy.
The film’s official synopsis states: “Cecilia, an American nun of devout faith, embarking on a new journey in a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. Cecilia’s warm welcome quickly devolves into a nightmare as it becomes clear her new home harbours a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.”*
