-

Actor Rasika Dugal is delighted that her 2023 film Lord Curzon Ki Haveli had its India Premiere at the Wench Film Festival in Mumbai in February.

“I am always thrilled when my work is lauded at film festivals, whether global or not. It means it passed muster in front of a passionate and informed audience. Audiences at film festivals are very discerning. They watch with rapt attention and the love for cinema is palpable. It is a special treat to watch them watch your work. It is a special treat to watch them watch your work,” the 39year-old shares.

The film, which also premiered in Melbourne (Australia) and Vancouver (Canada) among other international locations was met with a warm response. Ask her what the recognition means for her and Dugal shares, “I am always thrilled when your work is lauded at film festivals, whether global or not. Audiences at film festivals are very discerning.

They watch with rapt attention and the love for cinema is palpable,” adding, “Every recognition feels special — whether it is my film’s screening at a festival or the chance of meeting a stranger who has watched and loved my work, I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I do. How many of us get to touch another person’s life and stir something in them? It’s a gift of this profession.”

Dugal, who would also be seen in the new season of Mirzapur, also shares how she’d react if she was to run into her character Beena Tripathi in real life. “I have always had an admiration for women who unapologetically own their space. I think I would be totally intrigued by Beena, and I have a feeling that I wouldn’t be the only person in the room to feel so,” she says with a smile.

Recently, Dugal also shared the screen with husband-actor Mukul Chadda for the first time in director Karan Gour’s Fairy Folk.
