Thousands flocked to the grounds of Maitreyi College in Delhi University to experience the electrifying concert by singer Arjun Kanungo on Friday. Performing for the college’s annual cultural fest, Rhapsody ‘24, the singer took the stage and began serenading the crowd with his chart-topping hits. During his engaging lineup, the 33-year-old humorously queried the students in the front and playfully teased, “If I come down there (towards the front row), will you sing with me?”

The atmosphere intensified as Kanungo belted out his iconic track Aaya Na Tu, a song he credits with transforming his life. The performance continued with soulful renditions of popular hits such as Zara Zara, Pasoori, Apna Bana Le and Khamoshiyan (Khamoshiyan, 2015), among others. He also sang his famous cover of Afreen Afreen, dedicating it to a crowd of female fans. “I am one of his biggest fans, and the moment he sang Zara Zara, I became really emotional,” shares Nikita Dusad, a second-year student from the college. “When he took to the stage, I was overcome by nostalgia. I remember listening to his older songs,” shares Saanvi

Manchanda, a second-year BA (Hons) Economics student.

Reflecting on the success of the fest, Sivasankari J, president of Maitreyi College’s Students Union, says, “I’m so happy to say that all our hard work has paid off. Even with a footfall exceeding 10,000 people, we ensured that everyone on the campus felt safe and secure,” adding, “We are so happy that many students were able to make their dream come true, of seeing Arjun live!”
