‘CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE NEW EID MEMORIES WITH ZEHAAN’
Gauahar Khan and Zaid Darbar are all set to celebrate their first Eid with son Zehaan today
Actor Gauahar Khan and choreographer-actor Zaid Darbar are going to have a very special Eid-al-Fitr this year. It’s the first time they will be celebrating the festival with son Zehaan, who was born in May last year, and they are super excited.
On why Khan waits the whole year for Eid, she says, “Eid is all about good memories, and each year, we just add to our bag of emotional memories.” Her husband resonates with the emotion and adds, “Eid has always been special for me as the morning of the festival brings back memories of the ones gone by.”
This year, the couple is excited to try out new things with Zehaan. Khan says, “Every year, my mother used to wake me up to do namaz and have sheer khurma. Now I can’t wait to do those things with Zehaan. Even Zaid keeps asking when he will get to hold Zehaan’s little finger and take him along to the masjid for Eid’s namaz.” Khan also takes the chance to quip, “Zaid isn’t too expressive with others, but Zehaan brings out the child in him!”
Talking about how she wants her son to remember Eid and Ramadan as a chance to become a good human being, Khan shares, “I want Zehaan to feel that even if he has one piece of bread, he can share that. It should not be about how much I can have for myself.”
Khan and Darbar also feel the meaning of festivals has evolved as their family grew. “You have someone who is the crux of your entire life. It’s not an ‘I’ anymore, it becomes a ‘we’. Earlier it used to be ‘main kya pehen rahi hun’, now it’s ‘bachche ke liye kya le rahe hain’. It all starts and ends here,” shares Khan.
