Eid ek bahana hai apnon ke saath time bitane ka: Sumbul

Sumbul Touqeer may be busy shooting for her ongoing show on Eid this year, but she has still made plans to celebrate the festival today. “I might have a dinner party at home and I will invite my friends over too,” she reveals, adding, “Eid mere liye ek bahana hai apnon ke saath time bitane ka.”

The Imlie actor shares how her father Touqeer Khan always makes Eid special for her. “We wake up late on Eid and the best part is that papa cooks for us on this day. It just makes our connection stronger,” she elaborates.

Recalling the fun times she had as a child, the 20-year-old shares her memories of Eid with us and says, “We were 11 cousins and all of us would get together at our grandmothe­r’s place, 10 days before Eid. On the day of the festival, we would stand in front of our elders, according to our age, then ek ek karke pure parivar ko loot te the hum. (laughs) For us, as kids, Eid was about Eidi.”

The Article 15 (2019) and Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein actor also sheds light on the ‘magic of Ramadan’. “The month of Ramzan is a detox for your body and soul. It’s a period of purity and there’s something so magical about it, that all the negativity in you gets washed away,” Touqeer says, adding that this Eid is more special for her, since she has a bigger family to celebrate it with. Recently, her father got married, and she also has a sister now.

Talking about finding new bonds outside her family, she says, “I have also met new people through my show, who have become another family for me. So, this Eid I will celebrate it

with both my families.”
