My body is revolting after the transformation
REvery time I undergo a transformation, my parents have me take a kasam that I will not do it again. RANDEEP HOODA, Actor
andeep Hooda’s drastic transformation and weight loss for his latest theatrical release, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, left everyone shocked and impressed in equal measure. The actor, who is glad “the hard work paid off”, says it did come at a cost.
“Such transformations take a toll. My body takes a beating. For this movie, my weight kept fluctuating for almost a year-and-a-half, which was a big challenge. During the transformation, I was irritated as I was hungry all the time. Since I was also directing the project, it got extremely hard,” the 47-year-old recalls, adding, “I do have some pains; my body is revolting. But, I’m sure it will get back [to normal].”
This isn’t the first time that Hooda has grabbed headlines for his transformation. Earlier, he lost 18kg for his 2016 film, Sarbjit. “Every time I undergo a transformation, my parents have me take a kasam that I will not do it again. I give them a promise. Then, a project comes my way and it changes because I like the role so much. And it starts all over again!” the Inspector Avinash actor tells us. However, he does admit that things aren’t as easy as before: “The older you get, it gets harder to manipulate your body. But, I’ve been very lucky that I have good genes. Also, I had my sister (a doctor) with me throughout. She has been with me in all my weight gains, losses and transformations. She kept checking my pulse to ensure I was doing okay.”
For Hooda, looking the part is essential to “experience the emotional and spiritual aspects of that character”. But, he is conscious of not sending the wrong message to his fans. “You are fabulous just the way you are. But if you want to look a certain way, you should do it systematically. Being happy is more important than having six pack abs,” he ends.
