- Navya Kharbanda navya.kharbanda@hindustantimes.com (laughs).”

Actor Gurmeet Choudhary’s two little munchkins, two-yearold Lianna and oneyear-old Divisha, dress up in their best ethnic outfits for every festival, and Baisakhi is no different.

Choudhary shares, “Recently, I was shooting in Patiala, so I brought home some traditional matching clothes for Debina and my daughters. But mere liye matching nahi mila! (laughs)” adding, “We make sure to teach Lianna and Divisha about all the festivals in our culture.

They are also always excited about celebrating each one, chaahe Diwali ho ya Baisakhi.”

Ask the actor how he’s planning to celebrate the festival this year, and he

shares,“Jo bachpan se karta aaya hu, vohi karne ka plan hai iss saal bhi — naye kapde pehno, achi sweets khaao,” quips Choudhary, as he goes on to fondly reminisce his childhood at the army cantonment. “My dad was in the army, and Baisakhi bahut dhoom dhaam se manaayi jaati hai, army mai. I remember how all the families used to celebrate together. Khaane peene ka bahut temptation hota tha uss time, because fauj mai bahut lavish khaana banaaya jaata hai,” he says, adding, “Saare dharam ke log milke ek saath celebrate karte hain. Bachpan se yahi karta aaya hu, harr saal yahi hota tha.”

Since the festival is this close to his heart, the actor has also come to embrace many Baisakhi traditions, including indulging in yellow rice and home-made sweets. “Yellow rice is something we eat every year as a ritual. Not to mention, I love eating sweets on Baisakhi. My mum makes tastiest coconut ladoos — they are my favourite,” the Geet actor shares, adding, “But the most special part about this Baisakhi is how both our families (his and Bonnerjee’s) are here with us. Waise toh mai 365 days controlled hi khaata hu. But Baisakhi comes once a year, toh thoda bahut idhar udhar hoga hi (diet routine), I know

They (Lianna and Divisha) are always excited about celebrating each festival, chaahe Diwali ho ya Baisakhi. GURMEET CHOUDHARY,

Actor
