WHY ILEANA FEELS HER WORK HAS GONE ‘UNNOTICED’

-

Actor Ileana D’Cruz recently expressed that after more than a decade of being in Bollywood, she still feels that she hasn’t received her fair due. “[It] definitely feels that a lot of the work that I’ve done has kind of gone unnoticed,” she told India Today following the release of her recent film Do Aur Do Pyaar.

The 37-year-old, who made her Bollywood debut with Barfi! (2012), shared that offers from the Southern film industry gradually “dwindled” after she appeared in the film. Explaining why she said yes to the Anurag Basu directorial, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, she added, “It wasn’t meant to be a shift. It was me doing a Hindi film because I genuinely loved Barfi! as a story.”

“I thought that it was an unusual film. I thought it would be stupid to give it up. It wasn’t like ‘Oh, now I am moving my base to Bollywood, and I am never going to do a South Indian film again’,” said D’Cruz.

However, the actor, who has featured in South movies including Pokiri (2006) and Julayi (2012) feels that things took a different course after Barfi! “I feel when I signed up to do Barfi! there was this weird misconception that ‘she’s moving to Bollywood now. She’s not going to be interested in doing South films’. The offers just dwindled. I didn’t really get many offers but it’s true that I became more selective,” shared the actor, who has been part of Hindi films such as

Hero (2014) and (2016).
