SINGER SHAAN’S SON

Following in his father’s footsteps,

Maahi recently forayed into the world of music with a single, Sorry. The 18-year-old says, “It’s something I’ve been dreaming of since I was very young. Wha makes the song unique is the emotion and message it brings out.” Maahi, who is currently working on an EP, adds, “My dad has always encouraged me to follow my heart and do whateve I choose to with sincerity and dedication. And most important to always be grounded and true to myself,”

Gurdeep Mehndi SINGER DALER MEHNDI’S SON

Punjabi pop icon Daler Mehndi’s son, Gurdeep, is set to drop his debut EP. “I am beyond excited. It’s not your regular EP sticking to one genre. It has different styles, showcasing my range and versatilit­y as an artiste,” shares Gurdeep. On his dad’s role in his journey as a musician, the 34-year-old, who is “inspired by the strength and depth of classical music”, says, “My dad believes in allowing me the freedom to learn and grow independen­tly, which shaped my approach. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learnt from him is to maintain a steadfast focus on growth rather than getting caught up in competitio­n. He’s always emphasised the importance of striving to better myself and pushing my boundaries.”

Kinshuk Sen COMPOSER-SINGER DR PALASH SEN’S SON

Euphoria frontman Dr Palash Sen has been rocking the stage for decades. But his son, Kinshuk, is keen on facing the camera. He recent made his debut with Güzel Kiz, a musical directed by his dad. “It was so special to work with dad. I have always admired his vision and work ethic.” The 29-year-old is now working on a film by writer-producer Arnold Rudnick and says, “It’s a genre I have never done. I am looking forward to pushing myself as an actor.”

Siddhesh Pandey LYRICIST SAMEER ANJAAN’S SON

Unlike his father Sameer and his grandfathe­r Anjaan, Siddhesh is a filmmaker. The 23-year-old is set to release his first documentar­y, Risk Takers, which has done the rounds at a few film festivals. Talking about his dad’s role in his journey, he shares, “My father has been my source of knowledge. When days seem tough, his advice keeps me strong.”
