MALARIA LARVAE FOUND AT POLICE LINES, JAMALPUR
During a checking, the health officials found the larvae of anopheles mosquito which act as malaria vector from the areas of Jamalpur and Police Lines. This is not the first time that anopheles larvae have been found at Police Lines. Last year also larva was also found in the area due to poor sanitation conditions.
A team from the office of director, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, comprising entomologist and insect setter; and other team from Zonal Malaria Office, Patiala, comprising assistant field officer and insect collector; visited some high-risk areas of the city where dengue cases had been diagnosed in the past.
An anti-larva team from the civil surgeon office comprising insect collector also accompanied them.
During a visit to BRS Nagar, no larva was found by the first team. The second team visited Jamalpur and Police Lines, where larvae of anopheles mosquito were found and the same was destroyed. Pamphlets on health education were distributed in the area.
