MALARIA LAR­VAE FOUND AT PO­LICE LINES, JA­MALPUR

Dur­ing a check­ing, the health of­fi­cials found the lar­vae of anophe­les mosquito which act as malaria vec­tor from the ar­eas of Ja­malpur and Po­lice Lines. This is not the first time that anophe­les lar­vae have been found at Po­lice Lines. Last year also larva was also found in the area due to poor san­i­ta­tion con­di­tions.

A team from the of­fice of di­rec­tor, Health and Fam­ily Wel­fare, Pun­jab, com­pris­ing en­to­mol­o­gist and in­sect set­ter; and other team from Zonal Malaria Of­fice, Pa­tiala, com­pris­ing as­sis­tant field of­fi­cer and in­sect col­lec­tor; vis­ited some high-risk ar­eas of the city where dengue cases had been di­ag­nosed in the past.

An anti-larva team from the civil sur­geon of­fice com­pris­ing in­sect col­lec­tor also ac­com­pa­nied them.

Dur­ing a visit to BRS Na­gar, no larva was found by the first team. The sec­ond team vis­ited Ja­malpur and Po­lice Lines, where lar­vae of anophe­les mosquito were found and the same was de­stroyed. Pam­phlets on health ed­u­ca­tion were dis­trib­uted in the area.
