Govt takes 8 yrs to start circuit house repair
Lakh sanctioned by PWD, repair work expected to be finished in a month
After eight years the government has finally decided to take up repair work at the Ludhiana circuit house.
The Public Works Department (PWD) has sanctioned a sum of Rs 40 lakh for the repair of the circuit house. The repairs that started three days ago and expected to be complete in a month.
Ludhiana circuit house is one of the busiest places in the state, being an industrial city it is frequented by ministers and government officers.
Over the past few years the condition of the circuit house had deteriorated due to the indifferent attitude of the government; it was last repaired
Supervisor RL Chopra of the circuit house said, “During the renovation work, flooring of ground floor and minister suite will be redone. The entire building will be re- painted and the furniture will also be repaired.”
Keeping in view the summers, 14 new air conditioners will also be installed at the Ludhiana circuit house.
A new sound system will be installed at the meeting hall. Leakages in various places will be fixed, while new parking lights will be installed in the parking area.
The PWD has given an estimate of 1 month for the entire work. Meanwhile all the guests will be accommodated in other government guesthouses of the city.
Deputy commissioner Rahul Tiwari said, “Until the renovation work is over, guests will be accommodated in other government guesthouses such as, Punjab State Power Corporation guesthouse, Forest department’s guesthouse, sewerage department and Sainik welfare board’s guesthouse.”
